I believe in the student movement and its ability to change all of our lives for the better. But more importantly I believe in an NUS Scotland that realises the potential of its membership, that delivers on its promises and that takes our aspirations and turns them into reality.
It has been my experience as a student forced out of Further Education due to tuition fees, and then as an active member of my University union, which has shaped my vision for NUS Scotland.
Over the last year, as President of Strathclyde, I have built a campaigning, active union equipped to take on the challenges facing our students. We need a strong and effective National Union that can fight for us nationally and with us locally. A National Union that provides the support we need to develop and evolve stronger students’ association’s that can meet the demands of our members.
NUS Scotland needs a fresh perspective and a new approach to tackle the challenges we face. I’m not about change for change sake, but about reform for progress. Let’s not do down our achievements as a movement, but build a new movement that learns from the past and creates a better future. I have those fresh ideas, I have the commitment and the experience to deliver.
We need a new NUS Scotland, with a new kind of President to make it a reality. For stronger unions, putting students first I ask for your support.
